Wednesday Is Fraser's Best Weeknight in October, and the Hours Explain Why

Sharky's Eatery on Doc Susie Avenue lists its hours as 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Solstice Bistro lists 4:30 to 9:00, with seating until 8:30. The Birdie Lounge's golf simulators run late into the night. Fraser's day passes from one business to the next like a baton, and each hand-off happens at a specific hour.

A hand-off only works if every runner shows up. Once the summer crowd thins, the days when one of them doesn't matter more than any single menu. Line the listed hours up against each other and one weeknight comes out well ahead of the rest.

What the summer count leaves behind

On a busy summer day, Fraser can see anywhere from 15,000 to more than 20,000 visitors. The tourism curve then drops sharply after Labor Day. A town that swings between those two states doesn't get a gradual fade. Some places keep summer's pace and some settle into a lower gear, so the listed hours do the sorting.

Taco About It shows how deliberate that sorting can be. The De Los Santos brothers opened this second location on April 10, 2026, in a to-go trailer at 76827 US-40, next to Winter Park Flyfisher. They already ran the original in Grand Lake. Chef Miguel Angel De Los Santos told Sky-Hi News the idea was to catch the eye of people driving east toward Denver, and the trailer is built for that traffic. It is open late, and it sits directly on the highway. The menu goes well past tacos, with a 12-inch birria pizza at $24.99 and birria ramen at $14.99 at the April opening. Prices and October hours are worth confirming with the trailer before you drive over.

That location tells you which part of Fraser is tuned to passing drivers. The rest of the evening is tuned to the hours on the door.

Monday and Tuesday are the gap

Solstice Bistro's website lists private parties on Mondays and Tuesdays. Its regular service runs Wednesday through Sunday. That puts a full-service dinner room out of reach on the first two evenings of the week, and it gives the first dinner opening of the week to Wednesday.

Fraser Valley Distilling Co. at 410 Zerex Street lists its Wednesday happy hour as running all day. The listing is valid January 1 through December 31, 2026. The same listing describes a patio with heaters and a fire pit, a scratch kitchen with a seasonal menu, and a house-made tonic that goes into its Gin & Tonic, which it calls its most popular drink.

Those two facts land on the same day. Wednesday is the one evening when the distillery's all-day pricing and Solstice's 4:30 opening line up. Sharky's has already closed by then, so the day handles breakfast and lunch on one side and dinner on the other with no overlap.

Thursday and Friday work too. Wednesday is the day both are guaranteed to be running while the summer crowd is gone, and the distillery's promotion attaches to it by name.

How a Wednesday can run, hour by hour

Wednesdays in October fall on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. The route below uses only hours and details the businesses publish, so confirm each one before you set out.

  1. The creek window. Winter Park Flyfisher is open year-round in Fraser. Its river report says spring and early fall bring good dry-fly fishing on Ranch Creek, which joins the Fraser River just north of town. It describes small-stream fishing with light rods and short casts. Public access is limited to small stretches near trailheads, so stop at the shop for the current details. Conditions change from week to week and the shop is the place to ask.
  2. The first drink. Fraser Valley Distilling's patio, with heaters and a fire pit, is the listed setting. The all-day Wednesday happy hour means there is no clock to beat. A flight or a Gin & Tonic can come first.
  3. The 4:30 seating. Solstice Bistro opens at 4:30, and its happy hour runs until 5:30. Seating ends at 8:30, which leaves four hours to be seated. The bistro's website also mentions sushi Sundays for summer, so a Wednesday menu could look different and the restaurant is worth calling.
  4. The late round. The Birdie Lounge sits on the ground floor of Koselig on Main, across Highway 40 from Fisher's Bar and next to the distillery. It has four Uneekor EyeXO simulators with 16-foot 4K screens, room for up to six players per bay, and access to 700 courses. A third-party listing shows Sunday through Thursday hours of noon to 11 p.m. That listing is undated, so check the lounge directly before planning around the closing time.
  5. The drive home. Taco About It's trailer is on US-40 next to the fly shop, close to where the route starts. It is open late by design and sits on the way for anyone heading out of town.

Order matters here. The creek comes first because daylight is the only part of the route that can't be moved. The distillery is second because its promotion has no closing time, and Solstice comes third because it does. The lounge and the trailer come last because they are the ones built to keep later hours.

Where the calendar picks up

After the last Wednesday, the month ends on a Saturday. Halloween falls on October 31, 2026. I could not confirm a 2026 schedule for trick-or-treating in Fraser. In 2024, Sky-Hi News reported trick-or-treating at the Fraser Historic Church at the corner of Eisenhower and Norgren from 5 to 7 p.m. on Halloween. That is the last published schedule I found, so check the Town of Fraser's calendar before planning around it.

The church is the town's listed venue for community events. The Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District has also released its Fall 2026 Program Guide, which covers classes and leagues through the season.

The Oktoberfest Hop Crawler already ran on September 19 and 20 across Winter Park and Fraser. What is left of the month has fewer events, and in that stretch the printed hours of a few places on Zerex Street and Highway 40 do most of the scheduling. A Wednesday is the night when they overlap.

Questions about Fraser's evening hours, or what is opening next along Highway 40? John Sanderson at Sanderson Real Estate keeps up with what is changing around the Fraser Valley and is glad to share it.
